Our Story

We Are Polmanarkivet

Polman + arkivet = The Polman Archive, the leading digital repository for the Polman, Påhlman, & von Pohlmann family, with an extensive archive of digital collections, interactive exhibits, and research material. We believe every family has stories deserving of an archive.

Mission

We’re here to collect, preserve, and disseminate the rich history of the Polman, Påhlman, and von Pohlmann family for present and future generations.

Vision

We want to document every Polman, Påhlman, & von Pohlmann who ever lived and engage archivists, curators, & genealogists to preserve this history.

Values

We champion connection and equitable access to materials, working together in collaboration, and good stewardship to preserve collections for those to come.

We are an independent digital museum & always open

Polmanarkivet is a digital archive and museum related to the Polman, Påhlman, and von Pohlmann family, with an extensive repository of digital collections, interactive exhibits, and research material. Polmanarkivet is responsible for collecting and disseminating items that might be of genealogical or historical value. It also conducts research for the One-Name Study, registered with the Guild of One-Name Studies for the nominated surname Polman and its variants. Let’s journey together on this adventure of discovery as we aim to preserve collections as a tangible link between the past, present and future.
