Our Focus Areas

  • In-depth articles or biographies on members of the Polman, Påhlman, & von Pohlmann families to expand our Biographical Lexicon, as well as biographies of connected historical figures, including nobility, royalty, and military commanders.
  • Articles and essays of broader historical events—particularly during the Swedish Great Power Era (1611–1721)—that provide context for the lives and letters held within our collection.
  • Essays on historical and genealogical methodology, heraldry, palaeography, museum curation, and the practice of digital archival work.
  • Direct contributions to our Legacy in Letters project, focusing on the transcription, translation, and scholarly interpretation of specific documents from our collection.

Polmanarkivet is built on a foundation of scholarly integrity and professional collaboration. All contributions are reviewed to ensure they meet our standards. By offering to contribute, you agree to the following guidelines:

  • Expertise & Sourcing: You confirm that you have the relevant expertise for your chosen role and agree to use and properly cite academic or primary sources for any factual claims in your work.
  • Originality & Ethics: All contributions must be your own original work. Plagiarism, including the uncredited use of AI to generate text, is not permitted. We promote the ethical use of AI for research assistance, but the final work must be original and fact-checked.
  • Confidentiality: As a contributor, you may have access to research materials not yet public. You agree to maintain the confidentiality of this material until it is officially published by Polmanarkivet.
  • Editorial Review: We reserve the right to review and edit all submissions for clarity, accuracy, and alignment with our in-house style guide before publication or integration into the archive.
  • Licensing & Rights: By submitting your work (including articles, translations, and research), you grant Polmanarkivet a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, non-exclusive license to publish, adapt, and distribute the material. This allows us to share your contribution widely while you retain the rights to your own work.
  • Conduct: Your work must not contain any material that is obscene, defamatory, or illegal.

Any breaches of these terms may result in the termination of our collaboration.
